 There can be little doubt that the thousands of spectators who go to Louisville for the great World's Championship Horse Show each year are all looking forward to one of the legendary two-horse workouts in the Five-Gaited Stake. In the horse show world, nothing is more thrilling than the sight of two sensational gaited competitors charging down the rail of the famed Freedom Hall. This print depicts the artist's concept of one of these spine-tingling moments. Each rider, knowing that his horse' place in Saddlebred history is on the line, urges his mount on to his greatest performance. The horse on the rail cranks back his head and drives forward with a look in his eye that says he knows that he is in the fight of his life and must rise to the challenge. The rider on the near horse glances over at his high-powered competition and realizes that he too must ask his magnificent wild-eyed horse for his supreme effort. Neither of these "gladiators" will give an inch, and it is up to the judges to decide who will be crowned World's Five-Gaited Grand Champion. Hopefully, this scene will remind the viewer of the epic battles that draw people back to this wonderful show year after year.

"The Battle" had been intended to be a preliminary sketch, but, upon completion, the artist realized that the drawing had captured exactly what he had in mind, and determined that it needed to be taken no further.

This picture has been well-received by all who have seen it, and, therefore, we have decided to produce this limited edition. This is a small edition of 100 (only 65 are now left) signed and numbered prints. All who have purchased it have been very pleased.
