" JAMES WALLS "

Limited Edition Art

James Walls has been portraying all breeds of horses for the better part of 50 years. At the young age of 16, three of his pictures were placed on display at the American Saddle Horse Museum. The artist also created the well-known pictures of the "American Saddlebred Foundation Sires" for the Museum in Lexington, Kentucky, and has done numerous portraits for prominent owners of all types of horses throughout the world. He has also done posters for major horse shows (including the famous Lexington Junior League Show and the Gladstone Driving Event), conducted a very popular course in equine art for many years, and has lectured on the subject of animal portrayal at prominent colleges.

"THE RIDE" depicts legendary horseman, MARTY MUELLER, aboard the fabulous and beautiful stallion, THE RAMBLER, a son of the great sire, GENIUS BOURBON KING.  In Marty's own words:  "The Rambler, I say, was the best horse I ever had. "

JAMES WALLS was extremely honored when he was commissioned to complete this charcoal portrait for presentation to Marty on his recent 96th birthday.  Being a lifetime admirer of this remarkable trainer, the artist was thrilled and greatly humbled with the opportunity to portray two such wonderful giants in Saddlebred history.

"THE RIDE" is not only a tribute to a great horseman and a magnificent gaited champion, but also stands on its own as a celebration of the dynamic, powerful and exciting breed, The American Saddlebred.

 "American Saddlebred Foundation Sires"

$140.00

THIS UNIQUE PRINT SHOULD INTEREST ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE OWNING, BREEDING, AND SHOWING OF AMERICAN SADDLEBREDS, AS WELL AS THOSE WHO SIMPLY HAVE A LOVE FOR THE BREED.  This print is great for people and kids who are new to the breed.  It allows them to see how this beautiful breed was developed.
In mid-1985, a committee was formed to oversee the establishment of the new American Saddle Horse Museum in the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The various members had searched through old records in an effort to find any pictures of the horses which were considered to be the backbone of today's Saddlebred. Unfortunately, almost no images could be found.
As an equine artist who spent many years studying Saddlebred history, James Walls was given the task of creating believable portraits of the sires as they may have appeared. Denmark had been recognized as the sole "Foundation Sire," and his portrait is set in the center of the print at his rightful place. In 1991, a year after this print was produced, the committee determined that Harrison Chief should also be considered a "Foundation Sire," and was given the title "Harrison Chief FS." It should be noted that Harrison Chief is shown directly to the right of Denmark FS on the finished print.
Authorities have pronounced this print as an important part of Saddlebred history.
Pictured in the print are either pure-bred or crosses of Thoroughbreds, Morgans, Trotting-breds, and other breeds which, with careful planning and breeding, have produced the proud and elegant horses seen today. These portraits can be found among the pages of the book,"The Saddlebred: America's Horse of Distinction," and also the newly released title, "Kentucky's Saddlebred Heritage."
This large and impressive print is 24" x 36", and is on heavy, high-quality, sepia-tone paper, which adds an overall historical effect.
IF YOU OWN A SADDLEBRED, YOU CAN BE SURE THAT SOME OF THE HORSES SHOWN IN THIS PRINT WILL BE IN HIS FAMILY TREE. THIS PRINT HANGS IN THE COLLECTIONS OF MANY NOTED OWNERS, BREEDERS AND TRAINERS OF WORLD CHAMPION SADDLEBREDS, ALONG WITH AN INTERNATIONAL GROUP OF FANS OF THIS WONDERFUL BREED.

"FLYING OUT OF THE TURN"

FIVE GAITED SADDLEBRED AT THE RACK

$40.00

LIMITED EDITION OF 75 SIGNED AND NUMBERED PRINTS
"FLYING OUT OF THE TURN" depicts Mr. Walls' concept of a brilliant moving Saddlebred racking at tremendous speed.  The rider leans forward and to the inside as his spectacular horse looks through the bridle, mane and tail whipped by the wind, as he barrels through the turn and into the open straight ahead.  This picture was inspired by a tree-lined turn in the road that the artist had seen while driving near his home.  His goal was to remind the viewer of the one-two-three-four beat and exciting spectacle of a wild-eyed, snorting Saddlebred at this most rapid and dramatic of the breed's special gaits.

This is a limited edition of 75 signed and numbered prints. The print measures 8 1/2" x 11" and is on high-quality, acid-free paper.
